Yesterday my daughter decorated and baked cookies. The extent of our decoration involved carefully placing sprinkles one by one across each cookie. As we decorated, I realized that visual effect of these tiny imperfectly cylindrical sprinkles was that of a mixed-up rainbow of mouse turds (or, “terds” if you’re from my home state).
For whatever reason, I associate the little trails of brown-black mouse turds I have found with a mouse pooping its guts out in terror, as she or he is startled and/or feels cornered. I wonder what emotion or situation would lead a mouse to poop a succession of royal blue, gold, red, white, and bright green turds? Would it be elation? A feeling of sudden insight into a vexing problem?
Surely such a trail would occur if Regular-Movement Mouse were to join in a Care Bear Stare.
